SigmaQMS
Clinical genomics laboratory quality system · two systems, one sample journey

The sample journey

Every sample takes these steps in this order. Registration owns the patient and the specimen; the laboratory receives only a signed, de-identified accession. Click a step to open it.

Everything in SigmaQMS

Each system is split into workspaces: routine work is kept apart from projects, staff, stock and quality. Every page is listed; you are asked to sign in when you open one, and you see only what your role allows.

Labels and scanning

Specimen tubes, case forms, site boxes, batch plates, instruments and reagent lots carry a signed SigmaQMS QR label. Scan it with an iPad (Labels and scanning › Scan a label, or System › Connect an iPad) to see what it is, which step it is at and what to do next. A label not printed by SigmaQMS is refused.

Both systems keep their own encrypted record; the only link between them is the signed feed.
